Policy for waste management in RNM

Establishing a modern waste management system is a complex task, and although now is the time for integrated waste management, current measures are tailored to the needs of RNM, focusing on the early stages of development.

Waste Management

  • Waste is any substance or object belonging to the categories of waste which the creator or possessor discards, intends to discard or is required to discard;
  • Hazardous waste is waste that, due to its composition or concentrations of dangerous substances, can cause danger to the environment, life and health of people and that has one or more dangerous properties, such as: explosiveness, reactivity (oxidants), flammability, irritation, toxicity , infectivity, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, toxicity to reproduction, ecotoxicity and properties of releasing poisonous gases in contact with water, air or acid, determined in accordance with this law or another regulation, while in the List of types of waste it is specified and separately marked as hazardous waste, including any waste that is mixed with hazardous waste;
  • Non-hazardous waste is waste that does not possess the characteristics of hazardous waste;
  • Municipal waste is waste generated by natural persons from households (household waste) and commercial waste. Household waste is the waste that is collected daily from households, as well as the specially collected hazardous waste from households, bulky waste, garden waste and the like;
  • Commercial waste is any other waste created by legal and natural persons during the performance of commercial, industrial, craft, service, administrative and similar activities, which by its nature or by its composition is similar to household waste;
  • Industrial non-hazardous waste is the waste that is created during production processes in the industry and does not contain dangerous characteristics, and according to its properties, composition and quantity it differs from municipal waste;
  • Waste management is the collection, selection, transportation, treatment, processing, storage and disposal of waste, including the supervision of these operations, as well as measures to protect the environment, life and health of people during the operation of facilities and waste disposal installations and their care after the cessation of their work;
  • Waste management is a set of activities, measures and decisions intended to avoid and reduce the amount of generated waste and its negative impact on the environment, life and health of people, including waste management;
  • A waste manager is a person responsible for managing and/or dealing with waste at a legal or natural person who creates, owns or deals with waste;
  • Waste processing is the operations that aim to use the usable substances and components of the waste, and at the same time they include the procedures for the reuse of the waste, for recycling and for the use of the waste as a source of energy, excluding the burning of the waste for its definitive purpose. removal;
  • A waste processor is a legal or physical person who processes waste, regardless of whether he created the waste or performs the processing for third parties;
  • Waste treatment is the mechanical, physical, thermal, chemical or biological processes, including sorting, that change the properties of waste in order to reduce its volume or its hazardous nature, facilitate its handling or make it more suitable for processing;
  • Waste recycling is obtaining substances from waste (secondary raw materials) and using them as a substitute for primary raw materials or using the properties of substances contained in waste for their original purpose or for other purposes, excluding the direct use of waste energy;
  • Waste reuse is any procedure or method that ensures that waste is reused for the same purpose for which it was originally intended in accordance with this law or another regulation.
